Leprechaun is a classic horror film that is so terrible it's fantastic. The plot is crazy, the actors are over the top, and the special effects are so bad that they are laughable. But somehow, it all comes together to make a fun and interesting movie. As the leprechaun, Warwick Davis does a great job, and Jennifer Aniston is surprisingly good in her first movie. If you like campy horror movies, you should definitely watch Leprechaun. Just don't expect to be scared. In the movie, the leprechaun is under the impression that a group of people have taken his pot o' gold. He gathers all of his wits and resources to pursue and capture them in the act of hunting. After visiting his birthplace Ireland in 1983, where he kidnapped a leprechaun and stole his pot of riches, Dan O'Grady returns to his home in North Dakota. O'Grady realizes after burying the treasure that the wicked leprechaun had tracked him home and killed his wife. O'Grady subdues the leprechaun's abilities and imprisons him inside a container using a four-leaf clover. He had a stroke before he has the chance to burn him.
Ten years later, J. D. Redding leases the O'Grady farmhouse with daughter Tory. The farmhouse is being repainted by Nathan Murphy, his 10-year-old brother Alex, and their dimwitted buddy Ozzie Jones. While examining the cellar, Ozzie misidentifies the leprechaun as a child. He frees the leprechaun by removing the old clover. Leprechaun tells Ozzie he's an Irish shoemaker who came to America for his money. After failing to convince others he saw a leprechaun, Ozzie spots a rainbow and follows it in search of a pot of gold. Alex follows Ozzie out of worry for him. A bag of 100 gold coins appears before Ozzie. Ozzie examines the riches and swallows a coin, thinking it would cure his brain. They conceal it in an ancient well.
At the farm, the leprechaun gets J.D. to walk into a trap by pretending to be a cat and biting his hand. After Tory and the other kids take the leprechaun to the hospital, he rides a tricycle. When Alex and Ozzie go to a pawn shop to check the purity of the gold, the leprechaun kills the owner, Joe, for taking his gold and polishes Joe's shoes before running away. On his way back to the farm, the leprechaun makes himself a little go-kart, but a police officer stops him for going too fast. The leprechaun chases the police officer into the woods, where he kills the officer. The leprechaun goes back to the farmhouse to look for his treasure while shining every pair of shoes he sees. After taking J. D. to the hospital, the group heads back to the farm. When Nathan goes outside to look for the thieves, he gets hurt by a bear trap set by a leprechaun. The group attacks the leprechaun with rocks and clubs outside.
After finding a gun in the house, the residents take many shots at the leprechaun. After trying to depart the site, they find that the truck's engine has been wrecked by the leprechaun. After crashing the car with the go-kart, the leprechaun terrorizes the group until Ozzie and Alex confess that they found the pot of gold. Tory fishes the purse out of the well and presents it to the leprechaun. Having decided that the worst is over, they go to the hospital. As the leprechaun tallies his gold, he learns that Ozzie stole the last coin. He threatens them because he thinks they're trying to trick him, but Ozzie reveals that O'Grady had a stroke and was taken to the hospital. The group distracts the leprechaun by throwing dirty shoes to him, and he ends up going to shine them as Tory drives off in her vehicle. To learn the secret of killing the leprechaun, Tory travels to the home.
The leprechaun disguises himself as O'Grady and visits the elderly people in the home. While Tory is fleeing, the leprechaun follows him into an elevator and throws O'Grady's body down the shaft. Tory returns to the farm in search of a four-leafed clover, but the leprechaun assaults her there, forcing Nathan and Ozzie to come to her rescue. When the leprechaun returns to get the remaining gold coin, he is badly injured by Ozzie, who admits eating it. Before the leprechaun can kill Ozzie, Alex takes a four-leaf clover that Tory found, sticks it to a piece of gum, and launches it into the leprechaun's mouth. The leprechaun's skeleton, after tumbling into the well, emerges and demands, "I want my gold." Nathan uses gasoline to set fire to both items after returning the leprechaun to the well. Tory and her father are reconciled, she marries Nathan, and the two have a child when the police arrive.
